Men's Ministry

Hey, Lone Ranger!

Come Meet Your Tonto

For an entire generation of American boys, the popular radio and later television character known as “The Lone Ranger” epitomized the best of the Old West, and even the American, experience.

What male didn’t want to trade places with the Lone Ranger?  He was the rugged cowboy with no permanent address (no bills, painting or mortgage!), just free to roam the plains putting bad guys out of commission and helping the local sheriff restore order.  Men looked at the Lone Ranger in awe; women swooned over him; his horse obeyed him; everything he touched turned to gold - even though his bullets were silver!

But the Lone Ranger wasn’t alone.  Like any smart cowboy, he knew better than to hit the trail in a hostile world without a friend.  Tonto was the Lone Ranger’s faithful companion. Every time some hood was about to whack the Ranger from behind, Tonto was there to pull his bullets out of the fire.

You see, even the best of men - even the Lone Ranger - wasn’t programmed to make it alone.  That’s one fact about manhood that’s not a Hollywood myth.  God never meant for any man to try and make it on his own in an often hostile world, with no friends or brothers to ride with him.

The Bible makes this very interesting statement:  “None of us lives to himself alone” (Romans 14:7).  That simple truth is one reason the men of FBCR have formed our Men’s Ministry program: to equip, encourage, grow and laugh together.

We do this through a wide variety of activities:  everything from Bible studies to recreation; from service projects to times of fellowship.  You’ll also meet other men like just yourself— guys working hard and desiring to be faithful to the Lord and their families.   And best of all, you’ll connect with men who want and need friends, just as you do.
